Hornets' Taylor sentenced to 18 months of probation, treatment for alcohol abuse

Sam Sharpe / USA Today Sports

Charlotte Hornets forward Jeff Taylor was sentenced to 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to charges of misdemeanor domestic violence and malicious destruction of property Wednesday.

Taylor will also complete 26 weeks in a batterer's intervention treatment program in addition to entering an outpatient alcohol treatment program, according to Cleve R. Wootson Jr. of the Charlotte Observer.

Upon news of Taylor's charges late in September, the Hornets immediately suspended Taylor indefinitely from all team activities.

Taylor was selected 31st overall by the Bobcats in 2012. Through two seasons, Taylor has averaged 6.6 points and two rebounds per game. This season is the final year of Taylor's contract with the Hornets, and his future with the team is uncertain.
