The defending champion San Antonio Spurs should have their Finals MVP back in the lineup when they take on the Phoenix Suns Friday.

After missing the season opener because of an eye infection that had spread from one eye to the other, Kawhi Leonard is expected to suit up against the Suns, head coach Gregg Popovich said Thursday.

Leonard, who became the youngest Finals MVP since teammate Tim Duncan won the award in 1999, averaged 12.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals last season.

The Spurs won their season opener against the Dallas Mavericks, 101-100.
