Report: Deal between Thunder, Reggie Jackson unlikely before deadline

With the deadline for fourth-year players to ink extensions with their current teams a day away, Reggie Jackson and the Oklahoma City Thunder don't seem to be getting any closer to a deal.

In fact, "a deal appears unlikely to get done and talks will have to resume next summer when Jackson becomes a restricted free agent," according to The Oklahoman's Darnell Mayberry.

Jackson would become a restricted free agent come July if he and the Thunder don't reach an agreement by the Oct. 31 deadline. The Thunder would have the right to match any offers for Jackson in restricted free agency.

The Thunder famously traded James Harden to the Houston Rockets when they couldn't come to an extension agreement in time in 2012, but General Manager Sam Presti said in September that the team had not yet considered trading Jackson in the event a deal can't be completed before the deadline.

Jackson, who missed OKC's season opener on Wednesday in Portland due to a twisted ankle, will miss at least one more game tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.
