Pau Gasol: 'Possible' Marc Gasol ends up with Knicks

A lottery team coming off a humiliating home defeat in its season opener can be forgiven for already having an eye towards next season, and the New York Knicks fall squarely into that category.

They were a 37-win team last season, aren't expected to be much better this season, started the year with a 104-80 loss to the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden and they'll have boatloads of cap space in 2015 for the first time in years.

Marc Gasol was already thought to be a 2015 free agent target for the Knicks and, on Wednesday, older brother Pau said it is "possible" Marc ends up in Gotham, according to the New York Post.

Obviously, that statement doesn't mean much. Technically, it's possible for Gasol or any other free agent to end up on any team with cap space, just as it's possible Gasol will re-sign with the Grizzlies for more money.

But Pau, who won championships under Phil Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers, has told his younger brother all about the Zen Master, who now runs New York's basketball operations.

“It’s a personal decision. I talked to my brother enough about Phil that he knows what he brings to the table," Pau said.

“We’ll see what happens next year, what he decides. Hopefully he’ll have a strong year and all the options in the world, because he’s one of the top centers, interior players in the league, so any team would be fortunate to have him," Pau said about Marc.

While Pau was helping the Bulls take down the Knicks in New York, Marc was dominating for the Memphis Grizzlies in a season opening win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Marc finished with 32 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in the win.
