Hamilton was claimed off waivers by the Jazz on Monday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Hamilton was one of the Raptors' final post-training camp cuts, and the Jazz acted quickly in claiming the former Texas standout. Hamilton played two-plus season with the Nuggets, where he showed flashes of his potential but was never truly able to carve out a consistent role. A trade to Houston in February enabled him to see regular playing time off the bench, and he finished the season averaging 9.5 points in 18.0 minutes per game in 21 contests for the Rockets. Hamilton did not play in Houston's first round playoff series against Portland. He'll join a Jazz team in need of help on the wing, and Hamilton will have a chance to compete with rookie Rodney Hood for playing time behind entrenched starter Gordon Hayward. The 6-7 Hamilton is an excellent spot-up shooter but struggles closer to the basket, as he's a career 40.6 percent shooter from the field.
