Mavericks' Felton to miss at least 1st week of season; will serve 4-game suspension once healthy

Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports

Raymond Felton was already slated to miss the first four games of the 2014-15 season due to an NBA-mandated suspension related to gun possession charges last year.

The Dallas Mavericks point guard will now miss at least an additional week thanks to the high ankle sprain he suffered in an Oct. 10 preseason game, according to Dwain Price of the Star-Telegram

The games he misses because of the injury won't count towards his suspension, for which the clock won't start until Felton is deemed healthy enough to join the Mavericks' active roster.

Felton was traded to Dallas from the New York Knicks in the offseason, after averaging 9.7 points and 5.6 assists per game on just 39.5 percent shooting in 2013-14.
