Nets send Teague, 2nd-rounder to Sixers for Ware

The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers officially completed a trade involving point guard Marquis Teague on Friday, according to a press release.

Brooklyn trades Teague and a 2019 second round pick (via Milwaukee) to the Sixers for point guard Casper Ware.

For Brooklyn, attaching a second round pick allowed the Nets to shed themselves of Teague's guaranteed salary for this season, and it also frees up a spot to accommodate point guard Jorge Gutierrez, as Ware's contract is not guaranteed for this upcoming season.

The Sixers, on the other hand, took on some dead salary in Teague to acquire Brooklyn's pick. Teague was drafted in the first round two seasons ago, so it's not entirely out of the question that he finds his rhythm in the NBA.
