Williams will likely start for the Heat to open the regular season, the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman reports.

Analysis:

Part of the reason for this is that Josh McRoberts is still sidelined with a toe injury, and may not be available for the start of the regular season. However, Winderman said that even if McRoberts is healthy, Williams could be the guy next to Chris Bosh in the frontcourt, given his ability to stretch defenses if Bosh sets up in the post. That said, he's never played more than 21 minutes per game in a season, so it's unlikely he sees starter's minutes, even if he is the starter.
