Garnett (illness) will miss the Nets' preseason finale Wednesday against the Celtics, the New York Post reports.

Analysis:

Garnett is battling a stomach virus that has kept him out of action for more than a week since the Nets returned from China. With the regular season not set to begin until next Wednesday, however, Garnett's absence is nothing to worry about, as it affords the veteran extra rest, if nothing else. Once healthy, Garnett is expected to open the season as the starting power forward under new coach Lionel Hollins.
