Cavaliers' Irving ready to return to preseason action

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving is ready to get back on the court after missing three games with a sprained right ankle. Irving will suit up for Friday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks, Chris Haynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group reports.

Irving had his ankle stepped on by teammate Anderson Varejao in practice last week, and was forced to sit out the Cavaliers' subsequent exhibition against the Miami Heat in Brazil. The only preseason game he's played in was Cleveland's opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv, in which he notched 16 points and five assists in 26 minutes.

According to Haynes, Cavaliers coach David Blatt also announced that forwards Kevin Love and Shawn Marion will rest against the Mavericks. He stressed that neither is injured, though Love has been dealing with a stiff neck since Wednesday's win over the Indiana Pacers.
