Lopez is expected to miss up to two weeks due to a soft tissue injury in his surgically repaired right foot, ESPN New York reports.

Analysis:

Lopez played merely 17 games last season before suffering a season-ending right foot injury that required two procedures to repair. That setback came after Lopez fractured his same foot back in 2011. Furthermore, the center underwent left ankle surgery in March, a hardly reassuring development for a seven-footer that's missed 134 games over the past three seasons. Now, with a soft issue ailment, Lopez' two-week timetable puts his return date on the fringe of the Nets' regular season opener Oct. 29 versus the Celtics. As was the case last season, Mason Plumlee stands to benefit from Lopez' absence.
