Nets' Lopez to miss 10-14 days after suffering foot sprain

The story is always the same with Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez: he simply can't escape foot injuries that have dogged his career.

Lopez's latest setback is due to a sprain in his right foot, which will sideline him for the next 10-14 days, according to a release from the Nets, as relayed by Yahoo Sports reporter Marc Spears.

Lopez missed most of last season after fracturing his foot, and has missed a total of 134 games over the past three seasons due to complications involving his wonky foot.

When healthy, Lopez is one of the league's best post scorers. Before his injury last season, Lopez averaged 20.7 points per game while shooting 56.3 percent from the field. The season prior, Lopez was named to the All-Star team after averaging 19.4 points.

Luckily for the Nets, Lopez's injury is minor and shouldn't keep him out of action for long as he projects to be one of the cornerstones in Brooklyn's restructured offense.

If Lopez is unable to play, look for Mason Plumlee to start in his place.
