Rice, who sprained his ankle during Wednesday's preseason game against Maccabi Haifa, arrived at Thursday's practice without a walking boot, CSN Washington's J. Michael reports.

Analysis:

According to CSN Washington's J. Michael, Rice used crutches in the locker room after Wednesday's game, then left the Verizon Center in a walking boot. The second-year wing still hasn't undergone an MRI, but he is apparently bothered by significant swelling. With Brad Beal (fractured wrist) already out for at least the first 3-4 weeks of the regular season, Rice is likely headed for a key role in the Washington rotation, and may even challenge for a starting spot. The other leading candidates for added playing time in Beal's absence are Garrett Temple and Otto Porter, as Martell Webster (back) is also expected to miss at least the first few weeks of the season.
