VIDEO: Evan Turner ejected for bouncing ball to ref, mouthing off

Peter Llewellyn / USA Today Sports

Evan Turner had another solid outing as the interim starting point guard for the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, scoring 11 points with seven rebounds and six assists in just 27 minutes.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to join his teammates for the final 14 minutes of their preseason loss to the Toronto Raptors, as he was ejected from the game in the third quarter. Turner was spotted jawing with the referee after a Raptors bucket, earning himself a technical foul. He then turned and bounced the ball toward the referee, hitting the official in the leg and drawing a second technical and an automatic ejection.

While it looks fairly innocuous, Turner was said to continue mouthing off to the referee afterwards. Head coach Brad Stevens even said he believed Turner earned the ejection.

It's a minor mark against The Villain in what's been a promising preseason. Through five games, the 6-foot-7 wing masquerading as a one is averaging 11.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 27 minutes.
