Nash (back) suffered a setback Wednesday and consequently is not expected to play in Thursday's preseason game versus the Jazz, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Analysis:

Nash reportedly tweaked his back while carrying bags, evidencing his fragility despite being a professional athlete. However, prior to Wednesday's incident, Nash had missed the Lakers' previous two practices, as well as Sunday's preseason game, due to discomfort. When coupling that situation with his well-documented chronic pain, it's unfortunately not surprising that Nash incurred another setback. The former MVP is not expected to play Thursday and although Jeremy Lin (ankle) is also banged-up, it appears Lin is now the front-runner in the Lakers' competition to start at point guard.
