Brian Hoyer trying to convert LeBron James to Browns fandom

LeBron James returned home to Cleveland this summer after a four-year stint in Miami, but despite his friendship with rookie backup quarterback Johnny Manziel, James's football fandom hasn't re-rooted in Ohio.

Instead, James remains a Dallas Cowboys fan (as well as a New York Yankees fan). In his defense, it would be a tough time to turn on the 'Boys, what with their surprising 5-1 start and marquee wins against the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks.

But Browns starting quarterback Brian Hoyer isn't taking James's allegiance as set in stone. Hoyer, like James, is a Cleveland-area native, and he's hoping he can help convert the Cavs star's loyalty back to his hometown side.

"You have to cheer for someone," Hoyer said. "Hopefully we can bring him around to it."

The quarterback is making a really strong case with his on-field play so far this season. The Browns find themselves at 3-2 despite some key players missing on the offensive side of the ball, and an easy stretch of games coming up could see them at 6-2 and atop the AFC North in a few weeks. Hoyer ranks seventh among qualified signal-callers in QB Rating, having completed 60.4 percent of his passes for seven touchdowns to just a single interception.

It appears he has James's attention.
