Mavericks' Felton out for extended period due to ankle injury

Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports

Dallas Mavericks guard Raymond Felton will miss an extended period of time due to a high ankle sprain suffered on Friday, head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters.

Tim McMahon from ESPN reported on Sunday that Felton injured his ankle during the first quarter of the Mavs' preseason loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder when he landed on Anthony Morrow's foot. He later left the American Airlines Center on crutches.

It's unknown the exact period of time Felton will be out, but recovery time for high ankle sprains can be up to six weeks, depending on the severity. Carlisle said the team would provide an update on Felton's condition in 10 days.
