Report: Bucks talking extension with Brandon Knight

In his third NBA season, at the age of 22, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Knight had the best year of his career, averaging 17.9 points and 4.9 assists in 72 games and averaging 17.9 points and 4.9 assists.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, general manager John Hammond indicated the team has initiated the process of negotiating an extension with Knight, who doesn't seem affected by the rumors.

"My job is to come out here and perform, come out here and play hard," Knight said Wednesday. "So honestly for me, all I'm thinking about is basketball."

Knight is also seen as a leader on the team, helping teammate O.J. Mayo out in the gym.

"When he comes in the gym with me, I'm not in there to embarrass him. I'm in there to push him, motivate him, inspire him," Knight said.

Despite the extension talk, he's focused on his performance on the court this coming season and not on future endeavors with the team.

"I've got so many things I want to do with this team and so many goals I have for myself and the team, it's something I barely think about."

If the Bucks and Knight can't come to terms on an extension by Oct. 31, he'll enter next summer as a restricted free agent.
