A little sleuthing on the United States Postal Service website in mid-September found that Wilt Chamberlain is set to become the first NBA basketball player to appear on an official U.S. stamp.

On Wednesday, the release was confirmed with two versions of the stamp appearing in the USPS's Philatelic Catalog. The stamps are part of the Limited Edition Forever series and extend to over two inches in height, appreciably taller than the normal 1.5-inch stamp height.

One stamp will depict Chamberlain as a Philadelphia 76er and the other as a Los Angeles Laker.

The stamps will be formally unveiled on Dec. 5 at halftime of the 76ers' home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
