Coach Tom Thibodeau implied Monday that McDermott may not be a part of the Bulls' nightly rotation, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Speaking on both McDermott and fellow-rookie Nikola Mirotic, Thibodeau said, "there will be a period of adjustment" and that championship teams don't often have two rookies in the rotation. The implication is that both players will need to work their way into the consistent rotation, as Chicago is already deep at both forward spots. McDermott, who played four years at Creighton, may be more NBA-ready than most prospects, but he'll have to beat out veterans Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy for playing time, which won't be an easy task.
