The Week That Was: Bledsoe to re-sign; Garnett doesn't resign; LeBron to finish career in Cleveland

Welcome to the The Week That Was, where we recap the newsworthy happenings in the NBA over the past seven days.

Bledsoe to sign $70 million deal with Suns

Despite holding out for much of the offseason, point guard Eric Bledsoe finally settled on signing a five-year, $70 million deal to remain in Phoenix.

Bledsoe and his representatives were reportedly interested in nothing less than a maximum deal, and the Suns were originally happy to offer a four-year, $48 million deal, so the two sides met somewhere in-between.

With Bledsoe back in the fold, the Suns now have three starting caliber point guards along with Isaiah Thomas and Goran Dragic. The three will likely shoulder the bulk of minutes at point and shooting guard.

Kevin Garnett to return for 20th season

Brooklyn Nets power forward Kevin Garnett has decided to pick up his player option for $10 million and play in his 20th season next year. In doing so, Garnett will become the fourth player ever to appear in 20 NBA seasons.

As Garnett said at the team's annual media day, via ESPN New York:

I still can give. I still have something to give to the game, to this team and my mindset has always been to be better than I was last year or to be better than I was yesterday. So I'm not going to change that.

Thunder not considering trading Reggie Jackson

Oklahoma City Thunder fans have seen this episode before with James Harden.

Like Harden, Reggie Jackson is a promising young player in a bench role on the brink of restricted free agency. The Thunder are currently pressed firmly against the luxury tax and there's reason to believe that the Thunder will cash out on Jackson as they did with Harden.

But Thunder GM Sam Presti spoke to Royce Young of ESPN last week, and tabbed Jackson as a core piece. He also said that if the team doesn't manage to ink Jackson to an extension before Oct. 31, the team won't be looking to deal him.

Rondo to miss six-to-eight weeks due to broken hand

The Boston Celtics once again find themselves without the services of star point guard Rajon Rondo due to a broken hand. He will miss between six and eight weeks as a result of the injury. In his absence, expect No. 6 pick Marcus Smart to pick up the slack at point guard.

The more interesting tidbit, however, is how Rondo broke his hand. The public line is that Rondo broke his hand after slipping in the shower, but reports also indicate that he was at a trampoline park on Tuesday.

LeBron plans to finish his career in Cleveland

Here are eight words from LeBron James that will make any Cavaliers fan smile:

I plan on finishing my career back home.

James decided to leave the Miami Heat – where James won two championships – this offseason to return home to Cleveland. He inked a two-year deal with opt-outs built in, but that was a "business decision."
