New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans will miss most of training camp and the preseason due to a strained hamstring.

The Pelicans announced on Saturday afternoon that Evans injured his right hamstring while playing pickup basketball out of town, and is expected to miss three to five weeks of action.

General manger Dell Demps said in a statement that they hope to have Evans ready to go in time for the season opener.

The 25-year old Evans played 72 games for the Hornets last season, averaging 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and five assists.
