LeBron: 'I plan on finishing my career back home'

Cleveland Cavaliers fans have no reason to worry that the homecoming party for LeBron James will be shortlived.

James made a point to quell those fears while speaking to CNN's Rachel Nichols in his first interview since rejoining the Cavaliers, saying fans "shouldn't be nervous at all, I plan on finishing my career back home."

James signed a two-year, $42.1-million deal with Cleveland that includes a player option after just one season. Hypothetically, James could leave for free agency again in summer 2015.

"It was a business decision," James said about the terms of his contract. "They (Cavaliers fans) just got to get excited about this year, which is, I don't even need to say that."

James is expected to sign a series of short-term deals with Cleveland, as opposed to the more common practice of signing a single, long-term contract. In theory, the arrangement will allow James to maximize his earnings with the Cavaliers and capitalize on the NBA's next TV rights deal that will undoubtedly raise the league's maximum salary threshold significantly.
