Paul George can now put weight on leg, back to doing upper body work in gym

Do you even lift, bro?

If you're Paul George, the answer is once again yes, as the Indiana Pacers superstar has progressed to the point of doing core and upper body exercises in the weight room, according to head coach Frank Vogel.

More importantly to George and the Pacers, he is also now able to put weight on his right leg, a new and important development after he broke his leg and tore his right ACL back on Aug. 1. George is "down to one crutch or no crutches," according to Vogel, though most indications are still that a return this season would be a long-shot.

In the coming weeks, George is expected to become more involved with the team. During the offseason, he's kept in touch with several teammates, including new signee C.J. Miles, who said George is "doing great." Vogel said he plans to have George help out on the bench, too, charting deflections and contested shots to keep him engaged and a part of the team.

While it remains unlikely – and perhaps ill-advised – that George will make it back in 2014-15, it sounds as if he'll remain a key part of what could be a trying Pacers season.
