Report: Jazz to sign Dahntay Jones to unguaranteed deal

Debby Wong / USA TODAY Sports

Free-agent journeyman guard Dahntay Jones is expected to sign an unguaranteed deal with the Utah Jazz, pending a physical, according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.

The 33-year-old Jones has played for six different franchises across his 10-year career. He last played for the Atlanta Hawks in 2012-13.

In his prime, Jones was a tenacious defender who could knock down the occasional three-pointer. His production topped out in 2010-11, where he averaged 10.2 points and three rebounds per game, but his play has significantly tailed off ever since. If the Jazz don't end up cutting him, Jones will likely serve a role off the bench.
