VIDEO: Blake Griffin introduces the world to 'Slam Dunk Poetry'

Kirby Lee / USA Today Sports

Maybe you already knew that multi-talented Clippers forward Blake Griffin had some comedic acting chops. But did you know he had an ear for rhyme schemes? An affinity for the spoken word?

Well, if you don't know, now you know.  Griffin has launched a new creative venture dubbed Slam Dunk Poetry, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. (As the website proclaims, "Blake finds beauty in the details of the game he loves.")

He's so far released three poems, each an ode to a cherished piece of basketball paraphernalia: Mouthguard, Bobblehead, and Tearaway Pants (or, as Blake calls them, his "sixteen-button amigo").

Griffin also tested out his material at an open mic night at Hollywood's famous Laugh Factory. It was well-received.
