Jordan Crawford signs with Chinese team

With just weeks remaining in the offseason and still without an NBA contract, Jordan Crawford has decided to head overseas, signing with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in China, according to hupu.

Crawford averaged 11.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds with the Celtics and Warriors last season. He was included in a January trade from Boston to Golden State.

The 25-year-old combo guard is a decent scorer and even won Eastern Conference Player of the Week in December, but his penchant for ill-advised shots coupled with poor shooting percentages, his inability to consistently get to the free throw line and his non-existent defense all work against him in a more analytical NBA world.

In four seasons since being selected 27th overall by the Nets in the 2010 Draft, Crawford has averaged 12.2 points on 40.5 percent shooting (30 percent three-point shooting) to go with 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 24 minutes per game with the Hawks, Wizards, Celtics and Warriors.

The Chinese season ends earlier than the NBA's, so there is still the possibility Crawford could play his way into an NBA deal later in the 2014-15 season.

Of course, there's also the possibility he plays out of his mind, leads his team to glory, becomes a deity-like figure in China, and then just sticks around.
