T-Wolves to open camp with midnight madness, dunk contest between Wiggins and LaVine

In a ritual often associated with collegiate basketball, the Minnesota Timberwolves will open their training camp with a midnight madness event at Mankato, Minn.'s Bresnan Arena.

The event, being called "Dunks After Dark," is free for fans and will feature a scrimmage followed by a dunk contest between rookies Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine to conclude the Timberwolves' Media Day.

NBA TV will broadcast the festivities live on the night of September 29.

Though the Timberwolves haven't made the playoffs since 2004 and have often struggled with attendance, the acquisition of Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Thaddeus Young in the Kevin Love blockbuster and the drafting of LaVine appear to have reinvigorated the fan base.

The team enjoyed a record week of season-ticket sales in the immediate aftermath of the Wiggins/Love deal.
