Rivers has put the trade rumors behind him this offseason, adding 10 pounds of muscle, improving his midrange game and declaring the coming season, "my year," the Times-Picayune reports.

Analysis:

The former Duke guard has been a disappointment for the Pelicans since being taken with the 10th overall pick in the draft that also netted the then-Hornets Anthony Davis. The past few seasons Rivers has competed against, and lost to, Brian Roberts for backup point guard minutes, but with Roberts in Charlotte Rivers' only competition will be second-round pick Russ Smith. Rivers' play has improved over the course of his brief NBA career, and with the extra muscle and wrinkle to his offensive game, there is reason to believe the Pelicans could see major improvement from their former lottery pick.
