1985 - Celtics acquire Bill Walton

Walton's Hall of Fame career has already been ravaged by foot injuries by the time the 32-year-old is traded from the Clippers to the Celtics on September 6, 1985, but the former Trail Blazers and Clippers big man still has something left in the tank.

In his ninth NBA season and first in Boston (1985-86), Walton reaches the 80-game mark for the first and only time in his career, averaging 7.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks in a bench role for the Celtics, helping Boston to its second championship in three seasons and third of four consecutive Eastern Conference championships.

Walton plays in only 10 games the following season and retires after the 1986-87 season.

The 1986 first round pick that the Celtics send to the Clippers in exchange for Walton - in addition to Cedric Maxwell - turns into another Hall of Fame big man, Arvydas Sabonis.
