Derrick Rose participates in shootaround, expected to play Wednesday

While there's obvious concern about Tuesday's report that Derrick Rose is feeling soreness in his surgically repaired knees, things seem to be moving along as planned at USA Basketball camp.

It's understandable that Rose would have been sore following Friday's exhibition opener, as it was his first real game action since November. Rose played 24 minutes in the game against Brazil, and is said to have been pushing himself very hard throughout camp.

It's unclear what the specific schedule was like for Rose this summer, but head coach Mike Krzyzewski and managing director Jerry Colangelo spoke as if this was more or less par for the course. Rose may see limited minutes on Wednesday against the Dominican Republic, or possibly have another planned off-day Thursday ahead of Friday's final stateside game.

After Friday, the schedule gets a little lighter for a week, with just one exhibition game on Aug. 26 between Friday's game and the team's Aug. 30 FIBA World Cup opener. With the team's mid-week trip to Senegal cancelled, there should be ample opportunity to manage Rose's workload before the tournament.
