Is the Brazilian Blur on the comeback trail?

According to a report from Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, the Heat have shown interest in the veteran shooting guard, but also notes that no deal is imminent.

Barbosa appeared in 20 games for the Phoenix Suns last season, where he averaged 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 18.4 minutes per game. He latched onto a second tour of duty with the Suns last season by way of a 10-day contract, but after making the team, his season was cut short by a hand injury.

In his prime, Barbosa was one of the league's best bench scorers. He topped out at 18.1 points per game in 2006-07 and earned the Sixth Man of the Year honors for his efforts.

At the age of 31, Barbosa would be hard-pressed to repeat the success he experienced early in his career, but could conceivably prove to be a useful spare bench piece.
