Toure' Murry impressed enough as a rookie last season that some New York Knicks fans were disappointed when the team opted to allow him to become an unrestricted free agent. It's Utah Jazz fans who apparently stand to benefit.

According to a report from Marc Stein of ESPN, the Jazz are close to inking Murry to a deal that would see the Wichita State product play in Salt Lake for two seasons. The report suggests Murry could earn roughly $2 million over the life of the deal, but that could be rounding beyond the $1.76 million that would represent the minimum for Murry on a two-year pact.

The Knicks have reportedly been trying to convince Murry to hold off on signing while they figure their final roster out, but they have 14 players under contract and are already well into the luxury tax. That wouldn't preclude them from giving Murry a deal, but you'd forgive the 24-year-old for wanting to lock a contract down.

While Murry's numbers were modest as a rookie – he averaged 2.7 points and one assist in 7.3 minutes per game – there is a good deal of potential to tap into for the 6-foot-5 point guard. With size for the position and a developing three-point stroke, he's certainly worth a flier at the rumored price, especially in a third point guard role.
