Kerr: Iguodala will likely start, 'but there's a lot of options'

The Warriors put together their first 50-win season in 20 years during the 2013-14 campaign thanks in large part to a starting lineup that was superb when healthy and intact.

But while new coach Steve Kerr is looking to lean on the same starting five, he also opened the possibility of some tinkering after a boy at a basketball camp asked him about the Warriors' lineup.

Via the San Jose Mercury News:

"Andre (Iguodala) started last year, which he probably will (again), but there's a lot of options that we have because we've got really good players in Harrison (Barnes) and Draymond (Green)," Kerr said, adding that he would likely use the same lineup as last season. "But most of it usually comes down to how the combination fits. ... How do the pieces of the puzzle fit?"

Golden State's usual starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, David Lee and Andrew Bogut logged 819 minutes together, the fifth-most of any five-man unit in the league last season, and had the best net rating (+15.4) out of the 29 lineups that logged at least 300 minutes.

It sounds like one of Barnes or Green could replace Iguodala in the starting unit, but there's also the possibility that one of those players could play with Iguodala in smaller lineups that only feature one of Lee or Bogut, a strategy that worked well for the Warriors last season.

Kerr also touched on the report that the Cavaliers are primed to land Kevin Love, which means the Warriors likely won't be involved in any blockbuster deals.

Again, via the San Jose Mercury News:

"All indications are that this is the group we're going forward with, but you never say never," Kerr said. "You never know what's going to happen, and ultimately that's not my job. I'm coaching the team that's here, but there's no question that we feel very confident and comfortable with the group that we have."

The Warriors were long rumored to be in the chase for Love, but reportedly didn't want to part with Thompson, who the Timberwolves coveted.
