Curry had doubts following George injury, but remains committed to Team USA

Stephen Curry remains committed to Team USA and should be a lock for their FIBA World Cup team, but the Warriors point guard admits certain doubts and bad memories crept in after witnessing Paul George's gruesome leg injury.

“I had some doubts when I left Vegas as to the risk that you take when you play USA Basketball," Curry told CBS Sports Radio's The Doug Gottlieb Show. "But at the end of the day, we made a commitment to play, and any time we play basketball, that’s a risk we take," Curry added.

Curry also mentioned that seeing George suffer the injury brought back some bad memories of his own injury history. "Immediately when I saw Paul George go down, I did have some bad memories of my injuries and surgeries. Obviously this is a whole lot worse. We hope that he’s going to make a full recovery. But whenever you see that, your whole injury history comes up.”

Curry has had a history of ankle issues in his young career and missed 40 of 66 games in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, but the 26-year-old All-Star has only missed a combined 18 games in his four other NBA seasons, including just eight over the last two seasons.

Curry also touched on his future commitment to USA Basketball, “I honestly can say I haven’t thought about future years,” he said. Adding later, "We’re committed. We’re going to go out and win the gold for Paul and do our thing over in Spain. But I haven’t really thought about two years from now. I guess everybody has to make a decision based on where they are when that time comes. It’s hard to kind of put yourself two years ahead from now."
