On Wednesday, the New York Knicks dumped the unwanted contract of guard Wayne Ellington on the Sacramento Kings in a trade for two spare forwards, but the club may still be trying to deal point guard Pablo Prigioni.

As noted in the story below, the Knicks have some use for the sure-handed Prigioni, who is a solid backup point guard. Among NBA guards, Prigioni posted the third-best assist-to-turnover ratio last season at 3.8 and he connected on 46.4 percent of his triples, so he's a dead-eye, spot-up three-point shooter.

The Knicks added two point guards this offseason though, and by all accounts, Jose Calderon is a souped-up version of Prigioni. Newly acquired Shane Larkin could also use some minutes off the bench - the 18th overall pick at the 2013 NBA draft saw very little in the way of playing time in Dallas last season.

Prigioni has two seasons left on his deal, valued at $1.6 and $1.7 million in the coming years, making him fairly easy to move. The 37-year-old presumably doesn't have too many quality seasons left in the tank, but he can still contribute.
