John Wall on Kevin Durant in Washington: 'It's not a bad idea'

In a bit of a shocker, John Wall likes the thought of playing alongside Kevin Durant in the future. We know, crazy, right?

But with Durant being asked about a possible return to his home state of D.C. when he hits free agency in 2016, and Durant having praised LeBron James' decision to return to Cleveland, these are the kind of questions that will come up between now and Durant's free agency two years down the line.

Durant joining a Wizards core that would have just Wall and Marcin Gortat under guaranteed deals - with Bradley Beal a restricted free agent - has Wall salivating:

You look at that. You try to set yourself up for those situations, to have an opportunity to see him come back home and have us a big three, with me, Brad and him. We know it’d be great to have him. We know he’s got to focus on his season and what they’re doing. Hopefully around that time, we’ll do what we’re supposed to do. Paul will probably be near the end of his career at that time, and it’ll open up perfectly…All you can do is sit back and see what happens.

Wall and Durant connect beyond just the former playing in the latter's hometown, as they share a trainer in Los Angeles and are participating in USA Basketball camp together right now.

Durant moving to the Eastern Conference would certainly shift the balance of power in the league, what with the league's two best players on the same side of the standings page. That's something that intrigues Wall, too:

It's not a bad (idea) at all. Two of the best guys in the East going head to head four times a year? It'd be pretty exciting. You just sit back and watch and see what happens, but (the Wizards' Durant-motivated moves) definitely lets him know that we want him around.

While a Wall-Beal-Durant trio is possible, fiscally, and would be exciting on the court, it's probably best to curb the Durant free agent chatter until next summer, at the earliest.
