Harkless will not play for team Puerto Rico during the FIBA World Cup, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

Harkless, via his agent, admitted "he wants to focus on the Magic and getting ready for his most important season to date." He had intended to workout with the Puerto Rican team this summer and join them as one of the few NBA players. The 21-year-old showed minimal statistical improvement during his first two seasons but did close out his second season shooting 40 percent from behind the three-point line after the All-Star break. With the addition of Evan Fournier and rookie Aaron Gordon, Harkless' role remains a bit of a mystery heading into training camp.
