Dirk Nowitzki is a local hero. He'll return to the Dallas Mavericks on a team-friendly deal this season, and every year, he plays baseball with his other Dallas celebrity pals at the Heros Celebrity Baseball Game.

Last month, 9,000 people showed up in Frisco to watch the White Sox take on the Blue Sox.

Nowitzki, who suited up for the White Sox, scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. He was the co-MVP, alongside teammate Brian Cardinal.

As Grantland notes, the winning lineup was one helluva work of art:

The order is Dez Bryant, Ben Grieve, Dirk Nowitzki, Michael Young, Devin Harris, Jason Witten, Terrance Williams, Brian Cardinal, and Monta Ellis. That’s right. WE LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE TONY ROMO IS COACHING MONTA ELLIS AND HAS HIM SLATED TO PITCH IN THE SEVENTH INNING AND WE WERE JUST CARRYING ON WITH OUR LIVES WITHOUT KNOWING. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY.

Watch five glorious minutes of (a 7-foot) Dirk and company on the diamond. Spoiler alert: Dirk can't lay down a bunt. And that's okay.
