Eric Griffin's journey to the NBA is almost complete, as the 24-year-old wing signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, per a team release.

Griffin had a long road to this point. After playing his high school ball at Boone in Orlando, it took him two different community college stints before he landed on a Division I team. In two years at Campbell, Griffin was impressive, averaging 15.7 points and 8.7 rebounds in 31 games as a senior. As with most seniors from small schools, though, Griffin went undrafted, and has since played in Italy, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

But he's been impressive at Las Vegas Summer League, his third consecutive tour of duty in the tournament, and the Mavericks went a step further than the Miami Heat did last season when they invited him to camp, giving him a one-year contract, albeit one that is not guaranteed.

Griffin likely stands to make the $507,336 rookie minimum, though exact terms have not been confirmed. One report has the deal as a three-year pact worth as much as $2.3 million, which would be relatively standard fare for a make-good, non-guaranteed deal that gives the team upside if the gamble works out.

To celebrate the signing, Griffin is continuing his hot play in Summer League on Friday, earning at least one oft-monocled fan:
