The Brooklyn Nets are bringing back veteran wing Alan Anderson, according to a tweet sent out by the agency that represents Anderson, Priority Sports.

Tim Bontemps of the New York Post reports that the contract is a two-year pact worth a shade under $3 million total, with The Brooklyn Game reporting the exact figure is $2.6 million. The second year on the deal is said to be a player option.

Anderson was an unrestricted free agent after having played out the year on a one-year contract with Brooklyn, but context clues always pointed to the 31-year-old returning. This past season, Anderson backed up both wing spots and occasionally drew starts, averaging 7.2 points in 22.7 minutes over 78 games.

A decent defender who is at least a threat from long range with a 34.5 percent career mark from 3-point range, getting Anderson on a deal that isn't far beyond the minimum for a five-year veteran is a good get for the cap-strapped Nets.

It's also nice to see Anderson cash in after a circuitous road to NBA relevance. Undrafted out of Michigan State, Anderson had a two-year stint with Charlotte from 2005-2007 and then spent four seasons playing overseas, with a D-League stint mixed in. In 2011, the Toronto Raptors gave him a chance on a pair of 10-day contracts, later signing him for 2012-13 as well.
