Mario Chalmers: Re-Signing with Heat

Chalmers will return to the Heat on a two-year deal, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

Analysis:

Chalmers' future with Miami was in jeopardy after a disappointing playoffs performance, but he'll return to join Chris Bosh and Luol Deng on a revamped, LeBron-less Heat roster. He figures to come back as the starting point guard, though Norris Cole and rookie Shabazz Napier will be ready to step in should Chalmers' postseason struggles resurface. He was generally ineffective against the Spurs in the The Finals, failing to score in double-figures and registering more turnovers than made field goals. However, his regular season numbers were some of the best of his career, and his field goal percentage (45.4 percent) was a career-high. In 73 games, Chalmers averaged 9.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds.
