The Houston Rockets are "seriously pursuing" unrestricted free agent Trevor Ariza, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

Stein speculates that this could be a sign the Rockets are exploring their options for replacing Chandler Parsons. Houston has until 11:59 p.m. Sunday to match the three-year, $46-million offer sheet Parsons received from the Dallas Mavericks.

The Rockets are expected to match Parsons' offer sheet, but are reportedly taking their time.

The move could also be spurred by the reported progress the Miami Heat have made in their pursuit of free agent Luol Deng. The Rockets were believed to be among the teams interested in Deng, but Stein reports that it appears the team has fallen out of contention.

Ariza is reportedly seeking a multi-year deal with a yearly salary between $9 and $11 million.
