Agent: Wizards will retain Andre Miller

The Washington Wizards have notified Andre Miller that they will pick up the $4.6-million option on his contract for next season, the point guard's agent, Andy Miller, told CSNWashington.com on Friday.

While technically it's not a team option in the traditional sense, the final year on Miller's contract was only guaranteed for $2 million, so Washington is essentially saying they will not waive Miller to save $2.6 million in cap space.

Miller, 38, was acquired in a February trade with the Denver Nuggets, and is expected to resume the backup role behind John Wall.

In 58 games last season, Miller averaged 4.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per contest.
