Richardson (knee) exercised his $6.6 million player option for next season, Sportando reports.

Analysis:

Richardson missed the entire 2013-14 season after undergoing major knee surgery in February 2013. However, his absence may have actually benefitted the rebuilding 76ers, who ended up with the third overall pick in the 2014 draft. Richardson averaged 10.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 33 games in 2012-13 and he'll likely serve in a reduced roll off the bench next season. With the Sixers still a couple seasons away from truly competing, Richardson - if he proves to be healthy and consistent - is a candidate to be traded either before the season or at the deadline.
