Butler was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team on Monday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Butler averaged 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 39 minutes per game and often took on the role of guarding the opponent's best wing player. He came into the league with high expectations for his potential on the defensive end, and that's the side of the court that will likely carry him throughout his career. While Butler struggled with his shot this season as he was given an increased role on offense when Luol Deng was traded to the Cavs in the middle of the season, he's also shown enough growth throughout his three years in his career that we expect his efficiency numbers will bounce back to respectable levels next season. Butler shot 47 percent from the field in his second season in 2012-13, but his field goal percentage plummeted to 40 percent this season.
