Deron Williams: (Ankles) Successful Surgery, Expected Back by Start of Training Camp

Williams underwent succesful surgery on both of his ankles Tuesday and is expected to make a full recovery before training camp opens at the beginning of October, the Net's official site reports.

Analysis:

Williams had arthroscopic surgery performed on his left ankle that included the removal of spurs from the front and back of the ankle and a cleaning out of his joint. They also removed loose bone fragments from below his right ankle joint. He is expected to be on crutches for four-to-six weeks before beginning rehab. The Nets plan to have him begin light on-court activities in August before having him complete full basketball activities in September. While the time table for his return is encouraging, Williams' history of ankle issues are going to depress his value to some degree. Players in keeper leagues will have a tough choice to make with Williams when it comes time to declare keepers for next season.
