Tyreke Evans: Undergoes Knee Surgery, Out 6-8 Weeks

Evans underwent minor arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday to clean out scar tissue, the Pelicans' official site reports. He'll begin rehab immediately and will be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks.

Analysis:

Evans' timetable puts him in line to be fully recovered by the middle of July, so if everything goes well, he should be completely healthy going into training camp at the start of October. He performed so well as a starter last season while Eric Gordon (knee) was out that coach Monty Williams has admitted to considering bringing Gordon off the bench next season in order to keep Evans in the lineup as a starter. In his 22 starts, Evans averaged an impressive 19.9 points on 50 percent shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.6 three-pointers in 35 minutes per game.
