Hawks' Brand debating retirement after 15 seasons

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta Hawks forward Elton Brand has a lot of thinking to do this offseason.

The 35-year-old is coming off a season in which he appeared in 73 games but posted career-low averages in 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 19.4 minutes.

Brand, after earning $4 million on a one-year deal this season, is contemplating the idea that he's already played his last season in the NBA.

"It has," when asked by Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution if it's crept in that his career could be over. "It’s sad because I’ve been doing it for a long time and I love it. Body feels good and I didn’t miss any games because of injury so as long as I can still compete and help out a team, hopefully this team, we’ll see."

Selected first overall by the Bulls in 1999, Brand has spent time with five organizations across his career, averaging 16.6 points and 8.8 rebounds in 1,005 games.
