No suspensions for Game 6 altercation between Hawks, Pacers

Following an altercation in the second quarter of Game 6, a number of players on both the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers set themselves up for a potential Game 7 suspension.

The scuffle, which started as a shoving match between Mike Scott and George Hill, was quickly broken up by players and referees. But Paul George and Rasual Butler could both be seen leaving the bench, a possible violation of the NBA's rule that “during an altercation, all players not participating in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of their bench."

Violators of the rule can be suspended without pay for a minimum of one game and fined up to $50,000. However, the league reached the conclusion Friday that no rules were broken, allowing all parties involved to participate in Saturday's Game 7.

It's a lucky break for the Pacers, who desperately need a solid performance from George to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
